Help understanding video cards and dual monitors

I have a window 7 Dell inspiron 660 that I installed a new power supply and a nvidia graphic card into. The new video card doesn't have a HDMI port, but the one that was installed in the computer does.

My question is can I plug my TV into the original video connections and run two monitors at the same time?

What is your "original video connections" you refer to, the motherboard ports? If so, it will depend on the MB you are using. Some allow the integrated to remain active while there's a card in the PCIex16 slot... some don't. Try it and see.
Btw, what gfx card did you get that has no HDMI port?

I seriously doubt that you can run both your integrated and dedicated GPU at the same time, but I've never tried it so I can't say it won't (there's a .000 infinity 001% chance that it might work....).

If your GPU has two outputs on it, you might be able to find an adapter compatible with it to convert one of the outputs to HDMI however expect it to be a rough search and there are a lot of bad options that would get in your way if you tried to find one that worked. I would just get a GPU with a HDMI port if you want to run a dual screen with a TV.

If you mean you want to use onboard and thedescreat gpu at the same time then it depends on what hardware you have. There is software that will enable you to run both onboard and descreat at the same time but it will only work with certain cards and CPU's http://lucidlogix.com/products/basic-edition/ I have used this with my machine to try it out and tbh it was a nighmare to get it to work properly.

After reading clutchc's comment I did some quick research and it looks like if your bios supports it that you can indeed use [strike]both your integrated and dedicated GPU at the same time[/strike]. It's possible that the internal port is being run off of the dedicated GPU so I don't know if the integrated GPU is working or if it's just handing control of the port to your dedicated GPU. You'll just have to check your bios options and see if it's doable.

Guess I'm still learning : ) ....Just as long as I can learn as fast as things change....
