Hi, i just purchased a powercolor r9 280
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131570 and noticed on its spec it says PSU min is 750W. I currently have this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817153166 , only a 600W, would it be sufficient? And how do i Know if it is not? would the video card just run slower? or not boot at all? or is there a test that I run to
see? this is my current build

Solution
Well it is an estimate, an even with an overclock the XFX might be enough. Also it is theory, because it would be rare to see cpu+gpu and other components have near 100% load, but it might happen. I have read on some systems the R9 280 can pull 300 watts, your cpu is 95 watts, harddrives in idle are about 7 watts, other system components might add up to 5-10 watts. so it might get you over 400 watts at full load.

When overclocking it will add up to more watts, how much depends on how high you can get. Both cpu and gpu are good overclockers.

thanks sr-71, but i thought bootcher it has a required 750W? Or does it not matter that much does not need to be exact? also does the A need to be exact though? accordiing to this site actully, https://support.google.com/chrome/?p=help&ctx=keyboard#topic=3227046 , a r9 280 need 25A, my current PSU gives out 23A, would that make it not work automatically or the A can be give or take? How do I know if thre's not eough A, the video card simply won't turn on???

ok just purch it , it's $25 on tigerdreci after rebate, sr-71 :) it has that EasyRail technology i think it be fine right? my system is also OC, but u think 550W is enough right?

SR-71 is right, you can use a lower than 750 watt psu. The XFX will provide enough amps to feed your cpu+gpu. Future upgrades might not require more watts as same class components usually require less watts. Personally I would still get a higher psu, your estimated system watt usage is about 400, maybe a bit higher with the 3 hdd. That is a bit close to the estimated ~440 output watts of the XFX.

i am also oc'ing my athlon x4 860k from 3700 to 4500mhz and giving more voltage to it, does it matter much ? u say my system is about 400, what would it be after the OC and can u tell me how u breakdown the estiate? curious : ) thabnkns!
