This is preventing me from connecting to the internet. I recently got around to swapping the OS from Linux to Windows on my brothers computer, but after I installed it and got into it i discovered that it wasn't getting any internet, despite having an ethernet cable plugged into it. I went into troubleshooter and discovered that there were no drivers for the "Network Adapter", This computer has no Network Adapter and the ethernet is plugged directly into the WAN miniport. I've updated the drivers for the motherboard (GIGABYTE B85-HD3). I had internet before I installed windows. I am Completely Stumped. http://imgur.com/a/flYeC

For the record it's a rj45 or ethernet jack not a WAN miniport (this is more of a software/driver definition and not really used for the hardware). The motherboard drivers won't include the driver for the ethernet, you'll need to install that separately.

Try this link, find the realtek LAN driver, install it and tell us how it goes.

You need to install "Realtek LAN Driver" for your ethernet cable to work properly. Contrary to what you believe, you do indeed have a network adapter built in to your motherboard, otherwise you would not be able to access the Internet at all.

Also as a sidenote, I'm assuming when you said WAN miniport you really meant "LAN port" on your computer's motherboard instead of saying that your computer is connected to your router's WAN port (in which case you would have no internet at all).

Thanks! This is what worked. I don't know why something as important as this wouldn't come with one of the driver disks rather than having to look for it. Thanks to every one else who replied as well
