Just got a Gigabyte G1 GTX 970 and it seems like my CPU is bottle necking my GPU, so I'd like to overclock. However, I've heard that this board is not great for overclocking since it does not have efficient VRM/MOSFET cooling. What kind of risks do I run overclocking the board? Can I destroy my other hardware? Currently the CPU is undervolted to 1.2 V and running at 3.5 GHz. Specs are:
-ASRock 990FX EXtreme3
-8 Gb G.Skill 2133 MHz
-Gigabyte G1 GTX 970
-Hyper 212
Evo on FX-8120
-Corsair HX850 -Antec 900Thanks!

Solution
you can oc a bit on that motherboard, but rather than replacing the motherboard you'd be better off going for an 8350 cpu upgrade. Even if you do overclock that cpu quite a bit its still not real good for gaming.
