So I built a new PC, (See specs)

Asus Maximus IV
NVidia 780TI
2 intel SSD's
16GB G.Skill ram
corsair water cooling.

So here is what is going on. I built the PC about a month ago, it works PERFECTLY, I haven't had a blue screen a crash or anything with games or anything, my ram works and is identified by the comp etc....

The only problem I have is: When I'm rendering videos 70% of the time, my computer freezes HARD, like I can't move a mouse, I can't CTRL+ALT+Delete nothing. I have to hold the power button to restart the comp.

I don't get this with ANYTHING, BUT video rendering.

It does this on both Sony Vegas, and Adobe Premiere (The only two video programs I have)

What I've tried: I checked CPU and GPU temps with speedfan and they are at a steady 34C-40C. I updated my GPU drivers to the newest..

Any ideas?

Side note, I just did a windows memory test, and it seemed to run fine. And I am currently doing a "Silverbench" CPU stress test. Its been running my CPU at 90-95% for 5:00 minutes now. My CPU temp is 39C. And no lock up.

It ranges, I've had it freeze use Sony Vegas pro on a couple of 18gb videos (uncompressed)

But I had it just freeze last night on a little video that was probably around the 1gb (uncompressed) Size.

That being said, I've also been able to render a couple 18gb videos.. Like I said it seems to do it about 70% of the time, and the videos don't freeze in the same spot, sometimes its at 10% sometimes its at 80%

I did do a ram test, (Windows memory test) And it ran, but said it would display the results when I logged back into windows. Well I did the test twice, and it didn't shut down, or freeze...but I did not get a "report" when I logged back in.. so I'm not 100% sure it was a good test...but I think? :D

Gotcha, well I'll change those and try to render something in a little while, Like I said it doesn't always happen, and sometimes it happens 30 minutes into a render, so its time consuming to pin point. But I appreciate the help.

So I watched my RAM usage while editing/rendering a video. and my ram usage was between 10-14GB on a 20gb video (uncompressed). Is that right? or do I have a memory leak? seems like alot to me...maybe I need to upgrade my RAM.

I did up the ram voltage to 1.55v

I know this thread is old... but I still need help. :/

So i got 16 moregb of ram (same brand, clock speed etc..) and I wen't to render a video on it (roughly 20 minutes long @ 1080p) and it froze around the 80% mark.

I started another thread in the "systems" section, and was informed it was probably still a memory issue. So I downloaded memtest86 and turned it into a boot drive. I ran it, it did 4 passes to 100% without finding any errors.

any ideas?

I don't get a error code, my computer locks up HARD. I still see my desktop (or whatever program is up) but its 100% frozen. the only way to release it is to power down and back up.

The bios and mobo drivers are the ones I installed from the disk when I built the system. Possibly you could help me located the correct bios drivers? (I've never updated something like that)
