i have phenom 2 x4 955 BE on mobo Gigabyte 990 xa ud3 with evo 212 air cooler
i overclocked the cpu from 3.2 to 4GHz and tested it with prime95 for 12 HR and it is very stable and the maximum temp was 58c with 1.524v
i can go with it like that or it will hram my cpu ??
thanks

it is 1.5v not 1.524 , and it is not stable at 4 ghz in any lower voltage , should i reduce the clock ? but i like it like that :(

Well it only makes sense to overclock if the CPU is bottlenecking anything. The best way to test if this frequency is okay is if you noticed any performance increase in whatever you're using the processor for.

Whether this overclocking is safe is really irrelevant since any overclock, no matter how little, is a matter of lottery. Think of it this way: Its about as safe as smoking while bathing in gasoline.

That analogy is a bit much don't ya think ? In all reality overclocking when done right is relatively safe and I have yet to see and hardware failure or reduced lifespan as a result. I have been overclocking every rig I have owned since the Athlon 64 days.

OP, Do it right and follow the rules and you will be all right.

So is smoking and bathing in gas if done right, you also need to be lucky they gave you a good processor with quality build, like being lucky and not having ash fall into the tub with gasoline.

Certain batches of Phenom II's handle voltage increases very well. Yours in a prime example of one such batch. At 1.5v 58C with an EVO is fairly reasonable.
If it can be lowered, it would produce less heat and possible extend the life and so on. If its not stable, it should handle the increased voltage fairly well.

it is not stable if i lowered the voltage , i made it 3.9 GHz instead of 4 just to reduce the voltage to 1.5 and it is stable at the same heat level 57c not 58c ,,, what you think ? and the NB is at 2200 if you need to know :)

i think maybe at the weekend i will try to raise my clock more at the 1.524 and see what i will got :)

Pretty sure you never overclocked a cpu in your life. They are built with headroom much as a car will do more than the speed limit. Tens of thousands of overclockers would say you are are a poseur who obviously doesn't know jack about cpu's, voltage, dividers, mosfets, chokes, cooling etc....

C3 965 BE stepping was kick ass. Alas. Retired but not forgotten. Lol!

Lol! I got mine to 4.2 GHz stable with an ASUS 785 chipset board pretty easily Prime95 stable.

965's were and still are awesome. Low cost, high OC headroom and basically indestructable. Now if you can find them for cheap I think they actually offer better value than the current FX quads. As awesome as it was it was not my favorite Phenom II, My fave was the 960T I used to have. Native 6 core sold as a quad with 2 cores disabled. Mine unlocked as did about 90% of them did 4.3 on 4 cores and 4.0 on all 6. 1.25v. as quad 1.35v as a hex.
