Put together my first build yesterday. Relevant components are an AMD FX 6300 CPU, an MSI 970A-G43 motherboard and a Sapphire R 280 GPU. My motherboard doesn't appear to be POSTing. I don't see anything on the display, but the motherboard doesn't make any error beeps through the installed speaker. I tried removing the RAM to force the beeps and still nothing. All fans spool up and case LEDs are lit. The optical drive can be only be opened for a couple seconds after powering on. The newbie things I have double checked are:

All cables fully secured (including CPU and GPU power cables). The motherboard was installed on standoffs. Shorting should not be possible. The motherboard should not need a BIOS update. All components are firmly seated and went together smoothly. I don't see how I could have damaged the CPU etc.

I'm using my Vizio HDTV as a monitor via HDMI if that is relevant. Any ideas? At this point I suspect a faulty motherboard.

The RAM is G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory. Purchased separately from the motherboard.

Yes definitely connected. Both 6 pins to the GPU are also connected.

I did indeed follow that guide, sadly to no effect. I feel better with confirmation that there should be Mobo beeps with no RAM installed.

Any chance you may have accidentally switched the power supply to 220? I once bought a power supply that came factory-set for 220. Same problem. When I slid the power supply option to 110, end of problem.

Yes, I got the exact same problem, however I am using this EVGA GeForce GTX 960 SSC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (02G-P4-2966-KR) GPU which has the HDMI and DVI connection point. And I am using the Aerocool X-Predator 650W Power Supply...any ideas?

slcmarco - I did what you said but now the system is rebooting every second. At least before the system would turn on, no POST beeps, but everything would illuminate and spin. I also have no display with or without the GPU in. I have an MSI Z170A SLI Plus Motherboard. I'm pretty desperate for help.

Any help is appreciated!!

I am having the same problem with this line of motherboards. No POST, No video. This is the third forum I've looked at & followed for a solution to no avail.
the only difference I see with my setup vs setup's other people have is that I am using a single RAM stick. (Yes it's in Slot 1 & yes I've tried without RAM & in every other slot. Issue continues.)

I have to wait until Monday to contact MSI support. This is my reward for trying AMD again. :-(

I gave up looking for a viable online solution that might work. I donated this headache to a friend who was able to send it to MSI and have it replaced.

I will never buy MSI again after seeing the quantity of people having the same issues. There should have been a recall on this product, yet you still see it on shelves.
