I am close to start ordering the parts for my first build that at present are listed around the £950 mark:

With black Friday/cyber Monday approaching but not being as big in the UK as it is in the US I wondered if in previous years there has been much discount on PC parts and thus should I wait till till the weekend of the 28th for purchasing or just start to order the parts now to ensure that they arrive before Royal mail (and others) get bogged down with all the Christmas deliveries?

Solution
BF/CM is merely a marketing concept for "Random stuff that may or may not be discounted between 1 Nov and mid-January"

A particular part may be cheaper today or yesterday, than it will be on BF. There is no way to predict when or if your chosen parts will be 'cheaper'.
Peruse multiple sites, see what happens over the next few days.

Sometimes it does increase. I've seen the same part 'on sale' in Oct for $100. Discounted from $160.
On BF, that exact same part was $120. (33% off MSRP of $180!!!).

Yes, of course
But u could wait just to see if they drop and then order them, right? BF/CM doesn't increase the prices, so waiting might save just a couple of pounds.

EDIT: thats strange because i saw a 3570k drop from 235 to 209 (last BF) but u are right, weird things happen

Many researchers have shown that the base price often does increase, so that the retailer can advertise a larger 'discount'.
And I bought that exact same CPU in July 2012 for $215. Today, from the same retailer (Amazon), it is $230.
