Help with how to restore files and games after windows reinstall

Hi, I'm about to reinstall windows on my computer and I need some help. I want to format my hard drive and reinstall windows however I want to keep my games and a few files, however I don't have an external hard drive and I was thinking about an online storage solution, so that I could directly download all the files I need after the install. does anybody know if this is a good option and how they would go about this process?

Buy an external hard drive to copy the files that you don't want to lose (in fact you should have kept them backed up on a second hard drive anyway, not wait until you want to re-install Windows, because a hard drive can fail at any time and when it does you've lost everything.

that's a good point, I was thinking twice about it because I'm gonna buy a ssd for crimbo so having that It would allow me to store all my games on there and all my other stuff on my drive I have now. So I think I'll wait to borrow someone's external hard drive to copy it over. Oh and do you recommend any software to wipe a hard drive?
