Will reformatting my HDD erase my recovery?

Hey guys! I'm hoping someone could help me out, I installed an SSD (Samsung 840 EVO) last night and migrated using the samsung migration cd. I did not format my HDD because I'm scared that I will lose the recovery stuff. I did make a backup of my hdd on an external hard drive.

My question is can I format it while being on the SSD and will I lose my recovery or did that clone when I migrated the HDD to the SSD?

Here's my disk management: Disk 2 is my external hard drive.

Update: Thank you so much everyone! I really appreciate your help. I ended up making a recovery usb and taking out the hdd and clean installing on the ssd, then plugging the HDD back in. So far everything is going okay, my only concern is that I dont think formatting the HDD wiped the OEM from it or is that normal?

Disk 1 = old HDD

Your recovery did not clone over to the SSD. If you wipe that entire drive, you will indeed wipe the recovery partition.
However, you only need to wipe 917.24 partition, leaving the Recovery partition in place.

And you probably need to re-letter your SSD to be the C drive.

But....what I would do is....take out the SSD, Boot into that recovery partition on the HDD, and see if there is a facility to create a Recovery set on DVD. That way, no matter what happens to the old HDD, you can always 'recover'.

Why don't you save a recovery image to the external HDD, and do a fresh install on the SSD? Or, can you simply do a new recovery from the SSD?

I've used the Samsung cloning tool multiple times with no issues. I think we are making this harder than it needs to be :)

It depends on the migration. I suppose it is a file migration so in theory the recovery files or iso should have migrated also. The absolute best migration would have been with a bit-stream copy of disk but that would require another disk of the same storage capacity.

So, in theory, the recovery should have migrated with the windows. You have backed up the things you need for safekeeping so I find no reason not to do a format.

Unless the recovery is a particion and NOT files.

The best beat-stream copy program is FTK imager. It is a proffesional level forensic investigation tool that I use for my job but it is the best of the best. On the other hand if you do not need an exact copy you can use any other cloner.
