How to know if my GPU is damaged

Hello, everyone. After reading and solving a lot this forum, I've decided to join and see if I could solve my problem.

A couple weeks ago there was a massive blackout in my house, which fried my PSU and Motherboard, even thought I had it plugged to a voltage regulator (which survived btw).

I have to admit I was very pissed, but life goes on so I bought a new PSU and motherboard, the thing is that 3 days after installing them and checking everything was fine, it started to have some problems with my GPU when I was playing a game, but they weren't new at all (Display driver stopped responding and has recovered). After uninstalling Nvidia drivers and re-installing the newest drivers, it became more frequent, until it wasn't only when a game was open but even with the monitor on. Sometimes the monitor completely shut down and I had to force a restart.

I began to look for a solution and did them all (none worked), until after many restarts, the computer would just restart itself after loading Windows logo, I also looked on how to solve that problem and had no luck at all... I formatted my HDD, installed windows 8.1 Pro (had 7 Ultimate) and no luck. The only solution I found which let me boot my computer and use it normally, was to unplug the GPU and uninstall all Nvidia drviers. Many posts said that their solution was to get a new GPU, because theirs didn't work in any rig; I'm not able to do so since non of my friends own a PC which supports my GPU (sad) :(.

Is there some way to know if it's damaged or do I just have to buy a new one?
GPU: Asus GTX Geforce 660 OC version
CPU: Intel Core i7 3770k
Current motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z77-DS3H
Old motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H
RAM: Adata Premier Pro Series 16gb (8x2) DDR3
OS: Windows 8.1 Pro

I cannot plug the GPU and test it, because my rig crashes after a few minutes.

Sorry for grammar, and I do hope you guys understand all I'm trying to say (english is not my first language). I also hope this is not a very obvious problem and if it is you can make jokes at me all you want :wahoo:

Thanks!

I guess his system worked with the integrated graphics unit at this point.

Besides the GPU it could be a problem caused by the new Mainboard. If you are able to, you should first check weather it works with different cards (maybe some very old ones, or ask friends).

Regarding the fact that your power supply was damaged, I would assume that...

Regarding the fact that your power supply was damaged, I would assume that the card got damaged, too (with a chance of about 99% or something)

Whoops... didn't mean to click best solution haha. I'm going to see if I can find any old GPU and test it.

It's a bit weird that i worked perfectly for the first couple of days and all of a sudden it died, everything looks to work perfectly, even know (except for the part in which my computer crashes ofc).

I guess my mind was a bit right and I will have to find another graphics unit to test my motherboard.

Thanks guys!
