Unable to resolve the DNS name

I built a W7 Pro pc and a Server 2008 R2 with VM Workstation. I am now trying to join the PC to the domain I created. I get the following message: The following error occurred attempting to join the domain "Mine":
An attempt to resolve the DNS name of a domain controller in the domain being joined has failed. Please verify this client is configured to reach a DNS server that can resolve DSN names in the target domain.

Sounds like your DNS server doesn't know the name of your domain controller. I don't have a background in this, just going based on the error message as described. type "nslookup [domainservername]" and seeing if you get an IP address.
