@clicky999 yea... i suspected that it was a power issue... so i should just install a power supply with more than 300w?

@motarmelon i'll tell you in a few minutes. let me put back the new graphics card into the computer

just "more than 300W" would not be enough.

If you get a cheap 300W power supply, then you need to calculate that you can maybe just use 210W of it (around 70%), it depends on the efficiency. Unfortunately there are no good power supplys under 450W, but paying the 10 bucks extra is worth it, just for safety reasons.

@mortarmelon it beeps every 20 seconds for 4 times and then it turns off.

@rakoja ok thx.

is there anything i need to get alongside a power supply? or is just a power supply with a sufficient amount of watts enough?

in some other threads they discuss about the corsair cx series not beeing as good as the rm or tx ones. It's really a low budget psu.

Since he mentioned the budget as around 100$, i would suggest an EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 750 (click) or an Corsair RM 650 (click). its a bit over the wanted price, but it's worth it for the future.

I think your throwing god money after bad if hp don't support the upgrade on that board or model all these parts you buy will be for nothing - I hope not but that's how it ends up your best off getting a real motherboard with real support i'll give tis to you one more time and then your on your own

some models of store bought computers [dell.hp,acer,ect..] may come with a ''locked or fixed'' bios and may not allow you to change certain hardware as a video card.. this is done to protect them from undue warranty claims and refunds .this is not done to hurt you but to protect them. you really need to see if that upgrade has been proven to work in your model first before you invest money in it .. there are a lot of these threads here at toms to look at some models will allow upgrades and some dont.. and a lot of guys here say ya ya ya when is really no no no...it would be sad you spent $200 on a card that wount post after you installed it as most find out. then get told its your psu and you spend more and end up right back where you are now, but its up to you good luck..

you got to know the the boards in these computers are not like the ones we use to do custom builds witch are open to upgrading with in the boards compatibly . the bios is custom made for there design and just for the parts they authorize to be used on there computers there only guaranteed to work as is out of the box as you bought it ,..

that corsair power supply is 74.99 in canada (where i live).... and yes unfortunately everything is more expensive here.

perhaps i should just get this power supply. it's similarly priced, but has 600w instead of 500w
