What combination of CPU-GPU should i go for?

I am looking at a laptop with 2 GB Nvidia 740m GPU coupled with 1.8 GHz i3 3217U CPU. Is the combination good enough for playing modern games or should i go for a less powerful GPU like a 2 GB Nvidia 720m/820m coupled with a better CPU like 2.4 GHz i3 3110m?

neither of those gpu's is powerful enough for modern games, those are entry level gpu's that are meant for basic display and some low level gaming, with all the details on low
