I am having so much problems lately with my R9 280x that it's just destroying my pc gaming atm. My R9 280x was running perfectly fine for about a year(November 2013-October 2014) but lately it's been stuttering like crazy. I ran FIFA 15 perfectly fine since it came out but out of nowhere the game just starts stuttering for no reason what so ever. The game runs fine for a bit then just starts stuttering like a knock on effect and makes the game unplaybale. It's the same with Dragon Age Inquisition, fine outside of cutscenes but as soon as you enter a cutscene the game stutters and my graphics card makes a annoying buzz(ish) noise and when the game freezes, the noise stops, and then continues when the game unfreezes. It sounds like something is stuck but I just cleaned the whole computer and there's no dust on the fan or the graphics card.

I have an MSI R9 280x 3GB OC with a I5 3570K and 8GB RAM. I can't understand why my graphics card is doing this after being perfectly fine for almost a year. I have the latest drivers and i'm wondering if anyone can help me overcome this dilemma.

Have a check of your CPU temps as well as GPU temps.

You say your stuttering occurs after some time playing games, I think that might be symptoms of over heating, there for your CPU or GPU downclocks and you get stuttering.

I remember having similar probs, some demanding games started stuttering after a while playing. Turned out my CPU heatsinks thermal paste was worn off badly !!

I have just ran Dragon Age Inquisition and the GPU temperature outside of cutscenes are 53-56 and the cpu temperature is ranging from 42-53 across all cores. The CPU load is greater in some aspects with it ranging from 41-58%. During cutscenes the GPU's temperature are higher around 61. The CPU temperature's are around the same but the CPU load is greater again ranging at 49-66%. While I was running Inquisition, I can hear my GPU making this noise and when the game freezes, the noise seems to stop, and then carries on when it unfreezes. I didn't experience this before and only just recently is the noise becoming noticable.

I just checked my GPU usage too and that was around 93%.
