Hi everyone. :)
I have searched around, but haven't quite found any posts describing a problem similar to what i'm experiencing.

I broke a part of the fan with my finger... yes, i know..... Bought a pair of replacement fans on ebay, and they seem to be of the same quality (or lack of) than the stock fans.
I had to disassemble to cooler to mount them, so i cleaned everyting thoroughly - blew off dust, used rubbing alcohol, coffee filters etc. Went through the cleaning/reaplýing paste cycle three times with different paste applying methods - pea, cross, manually spreading the paste, tightning the screws as much as possible, and the result is soaring temps on load. (paste is a new arctic silver mx-2)

Its a msi gtx 560 ti oc edition. about two years old.

The card still idles around 30 c. as before, but when under load it can reach 100 c. Before fan replacement it would max at around 75 c. The temps rise from 45 to 95+ in about a minute in the starting screen of test range in bf4. it actually goes a bit lower momentarily when in game. If i close the application however, the temps drop instantly by about 30 c. I mean in less than a second. this makes me wonder if the readings are credible?

I tried changing video settings in bf4, and it didn't seem to matter whether it ran low quality or high/ultra, the temps went up at just about the same speed

both speedfan and msi afterburner aggree on the high temps.

i have a second card, an inno 3d gtx 560ti that go around 75 c. with same settings, so it's not a problem with airflow in the case. (it has a h100 cpu cooler and 6 fans besides the 2 on the h100)

I ran these in sli before, with no problems. Atm. I've been testing with just the msi installed.

The problem persists with costum fan settings at 100% all of the time. The fans are spinng fine and seem to generate good airflow.

I tried lowering the gpu and vram clock to around half of default, wich resulted in temps around 50 c. , but thats no viable solution as the card doesnt deliver anywhere near what its supposed to.
If i run fifa 12 it will also stay below 50 c.

Drivers are up to date.

can't find any other explenation than the gpu gone bad during fan replacement. If i'm missing something obvious i'd love to hear what it could be...

Thanks in advance

Hi Tea urchin, and thanks for replying :)

THe fans where actually 18$ without shipping from Hong kong.
The brand is "power logic" and model nr. is "pld08010s12hh"

They're supposed to be 0.35 amps according to the sellers info.

what exactly do you mean by "blowing flat out with no control"?

They increase their rpm when temps soar, automatically - as in, if im not runnig afterburner to control them.

I can definitly see how 2000 rpm fans could explain a lot, and i'm not intirely convinced the fans are what they're supposed to be...

Hi again.
I have run CPUID HWMonitor with fans blowing 100% and the RPM where detected as 4400 at max, and 1140 at idle, so I guess the fans are not the problem...
Anyone know about cases where the GPU starts gererating way more heat than ususal?
