Can't decide which processor to go with 8320 or 8350

So I'll be building my first custom PC soon, and I can't decide between these 2 processors, the FX8320 and FX8350, it's supposed to be a not too expensive gaming system, so an 8 core seemed like a good option since newer games use more cores ( basically trying to make my system as future proof as it gets ).

The 8320 has 3.5ghz stock and 8 cores, while the 8350 has 4.0ghz stock, I won't be OC'ing it so is 8320 still worth looking at? With the money I'd save by getting the 8320 I could get the Hyper 212 evo cooler, which seems a lot better than the stock AMD one.

So which one should I go for? Is the 8350 really worth the extra money for 0.5ghz more?

Solution

Get the FX 8320 with the hyper 212 evo cooler, the fx 8350 is just an overclock fx 8320, sold at a higher price. Once you are ready you can overclock your fx 8320 to fx 8350 speeds or more, it would be better if you could afford the i5 though...

I know that Intel is better than AMD, but I don't want to spend the extra money on an Intel, also I've read a lot and compared prices of the 83XX and they seem to be one of the best CPUs for the money.

I'm on a budget though, and in my country ( Belgium ) most parts are more expensive than in the US/Sweden etc. so for example, any decent i5 is €210-220+ while the 8350 is €160-170, I'm saving quite some money which I can spend on a good cooler.
Also most games I'll be playing don't even need that good of a CPU ( CSGO, APB Reloaded, BF3 & 4 ( BF does require a good system but it performs great on a 8350 from what I've seen ) and some other FPS/MMO games ). If it'll ever be needed

Hello,

FX-8xxx advantages:
- price;
- unlocked multiplier (useful for OC);
- slightly higher performance in multithreaded applications (rendering).

i5 advantages:
- best gaming CPU nowadays;
- higher performance clock-for-clock;
- lower power consumption, with additional benefits:
* no need for an aftermarket cooler;
* no need for high-end motherboards.

500 MHz isn't going to "future proof" anything. That being said ANY 8320 can be all overclocked to 4.0 GHz with all 8 cores. Provided you have a decent board with 8+2 phase and good heatsinks on the mosfets and northbridge plus a decent cpu cooler.
