Hi guys, I have never BIOS updated/flashed, I'm not really aware of the terminology but I'm looking to get a i5 4460 and a Z87M-GAMING Intel S1150 MSI Micro ATX Motherboard. I've read there's a possibility I might need to update my MoBo to accept this new CPU so first question, can anyone confirm that I will have to update the BIOS?. Then there's the problem of not having an older intel CPU. I'm upgrading from an FX 4100 so my second question is do you need to have a CPU to update the BIOS for this MoBo and if not, how would I go about doing that (with some sort of USB or something?).

Thanks in Advance, YMY.

Hi, The board needs to be manufactured after February 2014 for supporting the CPU. If older, the BIOS has to be updated and you need a supported CPU for that.
Some ASUS boards feature the Flashback, that you can use for updating the BIOS without a CPU.
