Hi,
I'm attempting to clone my 140GB hard drive to a new Seagate 1TB hard drive.
I've been having some problems trying to get the cloning process to start on Acronis and I'm beginning to think it's due to the fact that my 140GB hard drive has a cluster size of 512 bytes whereas my new hard drive can't be formatted to anything lower than 4096 bytes.

I'm running Windows Vista Business SP2. I'm wondering if this is a software or hardware problem? Is there an update I could use to format my new drive to the same cluster size or have I bought the wrong hard drive all together?

Thanks
(I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to hard drive stuff!)

Solution
Seagate provides DiscWizard (an OEM version of Acronis True Image). Assuming the two drives are both internal models, then the cloning procedure should be straightforward. The DiscWizard manual should tell you how to go about it.

BTW, the cluster size for NTFS is usually 4KB. You appear to be referring to physical sector size. Dissimilar sector sizes are only a problem if you are imaging a 512-byte drive (internal or external) to a 4KB external drive.
