I've heard that if I use 2 or more monitors of different brands in a multi-monitor setup, there still be some problems (besides the appearance), what exactly can go wrong?

Solution
It will not cause strain but running in higher res might cause extra strain. Also what could be to you downfall insignificantly is gaming in full screen will cause the other monitor to black out. You can fix this by going into windowed mode ALT+ENTER

Just kidding! There's nothing that will cause any problems. Just be sure to set the primary monitor in the graphics properties and be sure to indicate if you want to extend or duplicate otherwise you'll need to do this everytime you startup.
