One advantage of the larger ssd is ease of capacity management.
Also, there will be more free nand blocks available for updates making updates marginally faster and longevity better.
Lastly, a single large ssd will usually cost less for the same capacity.

If you are spending big bucks on large SSD's you might consider getting an M.2 SSD if your mobo has a slot for it. If not, you wont mind upgrading to a new mobo with an M.2 slot.
