No Video: HD7870 Video Card & Motherboard (GA-M57SLI-S4) Compatibility Issues?

Hi,

I recently bought a Gigabyte HD7870 from craigslist and having problem getting my display output(HDMI & DVI) to work. I'm in the process of updating an old computer. My old video card works fine and the new one runs but no video is coming out.

Motherboard: GA-M57SLI-S4
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 2.20 GHz
PSU: EVGA 600 Watt Bronze
2GB RAM
Windows 7

Old GPU: geforce-6500-256mb-ddr2

I am lost on this and would like some input. Thank you.

It should be as long you have a PCIE x16 slot on your motherboard.

Have you uninstalled nvidia driver properly? Also your CPU going to bottleneck that 7870

I know my computer will bottleneck the GPU. I just tried uninstalling the driver from device manager. No luck.

Also would there is an issue using an DVI-to-AGI adaptor when it comes to output for a newly installed card? I am using an old monitor that has an AGI plug.

have you connect both 6 pin power connector properly for the card? also you can try using guru3d DDU to sweep out the driver.

Yes - both 6 pins are connected. I ended up ordering a new MOBO/CPU/RAM that was on sale.

I'll see if that will work. Should be here by the end of next week.

to be honest i never heard of AGI. i can't find anything on google either. anyway since you will be getting new part that will be better to accompany your 7870

DVI to VGA. Sorry I mixed that up.

It was definitely the outdated motherboard. After I installed the new one, everything booted perfectly.

well it is good if everything work for you now. but there shouldn't be any problem using DVI to VGA adaptor.
