Fans spin, No feed to monitor, no case lights...then no power on next boot

New build, Asus H97 Plus // Cooler Master 650 Gold PSU (semi modular)// Intel i5 4590 CPU // Corsair 2x4 8gb 1600mhz RAM // XFX R9 270x GP //

Connected HD loaded with Windows 7 and powered up with joy in my heart. Fans turned, both case and CPU. No case lights and no feed to Monitor. DVI cable connected to MotherBoard. Thought I might have case cables connected wrong so powered off the machine, disconnected all input from MB and power cord. Checked the case connections(correct), checked all other connections, removed and reattached modular connections on PSU...hooked it all up and now ...NOTHING. no lights, no fans no post...nothing.

Any ideas??

means also to try the "breadboarding".
Also when using a dedicated gpu,like the r9 270X,do you connect the monitor to that one,not to the motherboard.
And when using a new system do you have to reinstall the o.s.,it probably won't start up with the o.s. already on the hdd.I guess the old o.s./hdd that you're using?
You could give it a go but don't be disappointed when it doesn't work.

I found and completed the suggested link last night, and low and behold the ram was installed in incorrect slots. Manual directs "Channel A...Dimm_A1 and Dimm_A2. These two sockets are adjacent. I was Channel A..Dimm_A1 amd Channel B Dimm_B1 (not adjacent). Hopefully this solves the problem when I boot tomorrow. I connected the DVI cable to the mother board because I have yet to install the drivers for the GPU...It was open when received(new purchase from NewEgg) and they as of yet have not answered any emails. I don't understand why a new build would demand a reinstall on the OS...please explain.

I see the light...after more research I see your point on the old HDD...different motherboard is not Okey Dokey with Ms. Microsoft. I have checked and recheck all connections, have placed the ram in slots 1 &3 and shall now go purchase a Samsung 500GB SSD, load the Windows 7, transfer data to the SSD then format the HHD and use it for storage. As plans go...I think this is one of them.

OK>...latest and greatest. The system would not boot because...I attempted to boot the new INTEL system to a Windows 7 HDD that was previously used on an AMD build. I shall attempt faith again tomorrow when the new SSD arrives. I was told to attach the SSD and the old HDD. The intel system will not acknowledge the HDD and will load windows 7 on the SSD. After installation, the system will reconize the HDD, from which I copy all the files I wish to keep to the SSD. then format the HDD and use it for storage.

I was unaware the GPU would "shut down" the motherboard graphic without the drivers being loaded but I shall follow your suggestion and attach the Display port cable to the GPU.

I shall post the results of tomorrow's boot

When installing the o.s. on the new ssd would i only attach that one to the motherboard,once windows is installed and all is up to date shut down and reattach the hdd.

Results of build: After must angst, the build is complete, up and running. The original problem of this post indeed appears to be the attempt to load a used HDD(another MB system) onto a clean build. So, with new SSD connected, in goes Windows 7, the the MB drivers, the GPU drivers, the Monitor drivers and here we are. I connected the HDD after the install and slowly copying files to the SDD, then a format of the HDD and a re-transfer. It appears the GPU wanted nothing to do with the monitor until AFTER driver installation with a DVI-D cable (waiting on Display Port cable) with NO display what-so-ever. Thanks for the help....sincerely, thanks.
