Should I build a new PC? Upgrade? or Wait out!

Approximate Purchase Date: Jan/Feb 2015

Budget Range: $800-$1200 (even less than 800 if there is a viable solution).

System Usage: Software Engineering / Hardware Engineering!!! Multi-tasking/Gaming, Streaming on TwitchTV possibly.

Games I Play:
World of Warcraft.
Counter-Strike.
League of Legends.
Battlefield 4.
Steam Games... Mostly anything MMO. Not to fond of single player games.

I'm a software engineering student, and I'll be graduating summer 2015 or Fall 2015. I already have an internship that pays well lined up for next semester and a full-time job for when I graduate. Once I graduate I will be purchasing a new PC on steroids (LGA 2011) Broadwell-E/Skylake Etc. and most likely a new laptop as well.

So here's the question:
Do I build a new PC to hold out until about Q2 2016? Do I upgrade my parts? Or should I just leave me PC alone.

Things I MUST REPLACE in Order of Importance:
Case: non of my front USB ports are working... so annoying.
PSU: It's going to explode at any minute.
CPU: It's Zambezi and it sucks.
RAM: Need to upgrade to 16gb, Running Virtual Desktop Environments to code in Objective-C because Apple... well only likes Apple users. Can't use Vengeance sticks because of Heatsink Blockage!
GPU: still get's the job done, but only 1gb of ram!

If I do build a new computer I won't be reusing many of these parts, maybe the Mobo & 1TB hard drive for storage.
If there is a viable AMD solution, I might go that route and just give the old CPU & RAM to my father.

Current System:
CPU: AMD FX-6100 @ 4.2GHZ
MB: ASRock Extreme3 990FX
RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR3 8gb @ 1600mhz
HD1: Samsung Evo 120gb
HD2: WD Blue 1TB 7200rpm
GPU: HD7850 1gb
PSU: Rosewill 700w (thing is about to blow any minute).
Case: Antec 900 from 2007 -_-
Cooler: Hyper 212
Monitors: Asus VN-247 1080p & an old Asus 1680x1050 (plan on replacing it to same VN-247).

Proposed System:
CPU: i7 4790k or i5 4690k
MB: ASRock Extreme9 Z97
RAM: GSkill Sniper Series 16gb 1866mhz
HD1: Samsung Evo 250gb/500gb
HD2: WD Black 1TB
GPU: GTX 970 or GTX 980 (maybe a R9 290x or R9 290)
PSU: EVGA SuperNova 1000w G2
Case: Fractal Design R4
Cooler: Hyper 212 Evo.

I'm open to ALL and ANY suggestions thanks!

Well then that depends on your preferences, but I always go with Intel, more expensive but never had problems like I've had with AMD. For your needs, the i7-4790k should be a great choice, personal experience, it will handle both work stuff/rendering/gaming/overclocking very very well.
I would say the most important thing to replace is the PSU if it is faulty, not the case.
You can get a new PSU for now. You don't need 1000W. a 850W should be fine for GTX 970 SLI. 650W will be enough for a single GTX 970.
Yo could wait it out for Skylake cpu but if you need a new pc now, then build it.

PSU is overkill, go with a lower wattage, especially if not even using a SLI/Crossfire, but you can keep the brand, EVGA is pretty good. For GPU, I can recommend GTX970 for personal experience, not too expensive and an amazing card. For the CPU, you plan to overclock? If not, you dont need a K processor, also, if only for gaming, an i5 should be enough, the i7 will not give you a huge boost for gaming. The rest seems all good.

I don't necessarily need a NEW, PC right now. It works... kind of, but some parts are out of date and I can't upgrade my GPU without upgrading my CPU because of the bottleneck.

Well I planned on adding a 2nd Card later for SLI/CF, which is why I'm planning on buying the PSU. I plan on OCing the CPU. I see that the GTX 900 series support DirectX 12, which will be standard when Windows 10 comes out soon.

My priorities are Multitasking/Software Developing, then Gaming on the side. I'm debating whether or not I should just stick with AMD and get a fx8320 or 8350 and upgrade my PSU, Case, and GPU. There's no point in me just upgrading my GPU because of my fx 6100 bottleneck.

The less money I spend the better.

Thanks for all of your input currently.
