Hi everyone.

Few days ago I purchased new Gigabyte R9 270x card and picture on my seconds display goes purple occasionally like in the pictures here
https://app.box.com/s/t18ft70dldz2pgnyt45l
https://app.box.com/s/6vx6ciqfiwsz1sdcugbd

Picture goes to black for half a second (like signal or some display setting is changing) and then it is purple. Same goes backwards: from purple, half second of black then normal.
This happens both on extended and duplicate display but I noticed that if i switch mode when TV is purple it will fix the picture. (I.e if i switch from extended display to duplicate display while pic is purple it will become normal.)

Before that I was using Geforce 9800GT with converter to HDMI to connect to tv and everything worked without problems.

My monitor is Samsung SyncMaster 2494 and it is connected with VGA cable and DVI converter to my video card. TV is connected directly with HDMI.

I do not think it is cable because it was working correctly on old setup.

I also checked to see if refresh rates of my TV and monitor are same and they were both 60hz.
I have latest drivers.

Anyone knows what could cause this issue and how to fix this?
Can this happen because of difference in signals of monitor and TV? (analog-digital)

Thanks.

EDIT: I tried using my TV as only display device and picture turned purple again

what psu do you use.. which brand? how many watts??

Yes i have latest driver. Car was brand new.

I just tried to unplug my monitor and use only TV as only display device. It blacked out for a second again but instead of purple picture was normal.

So i guess it could be connection but it is too early to tell. I have to test a bit more.

I will try to test with this setup a bit more.

If everything is ok i will buy new HDMI cable and DVI cable so I can connect monitor and PC digitally.

your gpu seems to be glitching when multimonitoring.... i have seen this happen when voltage fluctuation happens but your psu seems fine.. can you try it on other system?

Unfortunately I can not.

I have to add that on my PC monitor picture is perfect. That doesn't change at all, only on my TV.

are you sure that your hdmi cable is perfect?

It was working perfectly on old card few days ago without any issues but it was connected with DVI adapter.

NEWS: I was using my TV as only display device and picture turned purple again

its either the hdmi cable or the tv... not the gpu

can you manage to get a spare hdmi cable and see if it repeats again?

Yes I will buy new one because other one i have is too short.
Also I doubt tit is TV. Everything else works without issues and it was working few days ago. Maybe HDMI cable was damaged while I was switching my hardware.

I am also reinstalling the drivers.
Using my TV as I'm downloading them and no problems so far.

my personal doubt is that your power wall socket is having voltage fluctuations ... hdmi interface is very sensitive to minor voltage fluctuations... dvi and display ports on the other hand are strong

What would be solution in this case?

Also would it help if I connect HDMI with DVI converter to PC?

converter wont help... i suggest you try it with a spare hdmi cable.... other than that there is nothing much you can do

Reinstalling drivers did not help. Screen went purple for few seconds then back to normal again.
I will try new cable.

This is very odd because picture doesn't change instantly. There is half second of black screen before it goes purple, like something is switching.
Maybe cable loses connection and it becomes wonky.

Already did.

Waiting for answer.

Meanwhile i changed pixel config for my TV output to RGB istead YcbCr to match my rgb monitor. For now no issues but have to wait a bit more to call it solved.

Wish me luck.
