FX-6300 Bottleneck R9 280x

So this would be my first build'
About a month ago i didn't know anything about building computers and now
i've seen many people use the term 'bottlenecking'
it seems that more experienced people don't like the term but the majority of the internet does

So just to be on the safe side would a FX-6300 Bottleneck a R9 280x 3gb
And Also is a G3258 better than a fx6300 for gaming?
Pentium vs amd-6 cores doesn't sound like much of a comparison

The 6300 has 6 slow cores that can be overclocked and the pentium has 2 very very fast cores that can be overclocked even higher!
The 6300 is better for multi-threading applications but for everything else the G3258 overclocked past 4Ghz wins.
A much better choice than either of these would be an i5 4460.

On stock, it will, but bottleneck is a heavy word to put on FX 6. It'll just show less FPS than i5 or FX 8, but once OCed, bottleneck will be minimized. Also, gaming performance wise:
G3258<FX 6< i3.

Fx-6300 = 89$-100$

First of all, no, an FX-6300 is unlikely to bottleneck an R9 280x. There are ways to find out though. Read this thread for suggestions: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/348268-33-information-bottlenecking

Secondly, it depends. Some games are far more CPU heavy or favor single core performance. For the vast majority of games though, I don't think you will see much difference between a G3258 w/ R9 280x vs. an FX-6300 w/ R9 280x, particularly as you increase the resolution and the performance becomes more dependent on the GPU.

If you live in the USA then on Amazon.com you can get an FX-8320 for only $114!
This is by far the best bang for buck CPU on sale right now.

Now if you have the budget for an i5 then by all means that will be better.

Go through the suggestions in the thread I posted previously.

If there is no indication of bottlenecking, there is no need to overclock.

If it seems there is any indication of bottlenecking, you may want to consider overclocking. In which case, you will definitely want an aftermarket heatsink/fan assembly. This is the most popular, affordable one: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/cooler-master-cpu-cooler-rrb10212pg1

There are better ones out there but they will cost you a great deal more and you may as well upgrade the CPU instead to something like an FX-8350 or an i5

For a 280x you should be looking at a 550w 80+ bronzer or better rated psu from Antec, Evga, XFX, or Seasonic (other brands have select good ones and select bad ones).

As far as overclocking you should get a better cpu cooler. A Coolermaster Hyper 212 evo is pretty good and often on sale for $30.

I see. It's hard to say if something will bottleneck in a hypothetical rig beyond what I already told you.

I will say that if you are worried about CPU bottlenecking, fork out the extra dough and get at least an FX-8350. Or, if you can afford it, the i5 4690K is a solid, overclockable gaming CPU and you won't bottleneck it anytime soon.

Yes the pentium series will bottleneck it with or without OC.
Just go for an FX 6300 or a i3 6100.

If u have a higher budget, go for the fx 8320 or an i5 4460.
You can also go for an second hand i7 2600 or an second hand i5 6400.

A good cooler is an Cooler Master hyper 103
You can also go for an Cooler Master Hyper TX3 (i) EVO
