With the recent release of far cry 4, i couldn't really get desired fps with my current rig, and since i recently got extra spending money, ive decided its time for an upgrade.

My current rig:
i5-3570k
ASRock Z77 Extreme4
Sapphire AMD 7970 Vapor-x
Cosair Vengeance 2x4GB RAM
Crucial M4 128gb SSD
Some random 1TB drive
Some random DVD drive
Antec One computer case
Coolermaster Bronze 650w PSU

With the new release of the new 970 and 980 cards, im thinking of switching over to amd. So heres the question. Should i buy another 7970 and crossfire it OR sell the 7970 and buy a 970 (or a 980 if someone can persuade me [i can afford it if i squeeze more in my budget])?

Should i also upgrade my cpu if i plan to buy a 980? what i7 cpu is good and affordable out there? It has to fit my current mobo

I think it's almost definitely a waste of your money to upgrade to an i7, but the 980 is worth it without a doubt. You might have to upgrade your PSU.

Wouldnt the i5 bottleneck the 980? also i thought the 970/980 uses less power, then again a PSU isnt really that expensive.

The only difference between i5's and i7's is hyper threading, not often sued in gaming, there's no point.
