Hello all,

I seem to be onother one in the list with this problem but i have read all discussions about this and can't find my solution !

This is my setup:

Gigabyte P55a-UD4 (flash F15)
Intel i7 860 2.80GHz
SSD Crucial M550 256GB (NEW !)
Corsair 4x 2GB 1600
ATI Radean HD 5750
Windows 7 64 home

BIOS settings:

SATA 3 AHCI
RAM is set to 1600 and reads 8gb
First i thought it was the cable as they didn't sell me one with the ssd. Today i bought a new SATA3 cable and nothing changed. (same speeds as with a standard sata cable)

I supose the problem occurs in the marvell part...
I don't understand how it works and if it is installed correctly.
Or do i need intel drivers ? When installing Intel Rapid Storage Technology it doesn't show the SSD.
Marvell doesn't show much as well.

I have the latest bios update, everything runs perfectly but benchmark AS SSD and others show next speeds:

Can anyone tell me which steps i need to perform ?

Thanks !!

Solution
Your benchmark results are normal.

Current generation SSDs need to be connected to native SATA 3 (6Gb/s) ports to get advertised Read/Write speeds.
Your motherboard does not have native Intel 6Gb/s ports; it uses a 3rd party Marvell SE9128 controller for the 6Gb/s ports.
The Marvell controller has a bandwidth of PCIe x1 at 5Gb/s (500MB/s). The controller was developed when 1st generation SSDs were released in 2008.

As mad-max79 stated, you might get better 4K performance if you connect the drive to the Intel 3Gb/s ports.

Other than that you should save up and upgrade your motherboard to a current generation chipset.

Thanks for the reply !

As i was looking in to it i found out that all ssd speed benchmarks using this mobo had simular results.
Seems to me they where not really honest with there advertisements but i think i have to live with it :)

Now i know where to spend my money next time...
