Hello, as the title of this thread says, can someone help me decide what memory I need to buy?
I just bought a laptop, Asus R510JK-DM087H, because it was at a good price for what it has, as far as I understand, except for memory, it has only 4 GB, but I thought "ok, I can buy it in discount and then buy some more RAM".
But, it's more difficult than I thought.
I see the box the computer came in, and it says DDR3L 1600 4Gb.
I see the description at the site I bought it and it says DDR3 1600 4Gb, and that it has a free slot where I can add up to 4Gb more (max 8 GB supported).
I use CPU-Z, adn it says DDR3, and that my model is X550JK.
I use the Crucial system scanner, and it says that my laptop model is X450LB, and that I can buy an 8 Gb RAM to upgrade my memory.
I write to the people in Crucial, and they answer that my model (R510JK) is equivalent to X450LB, that I can only add 4 more Gb...and they attach a link to the suggested purchase..which is 8 Gb..?
I try to use the Corsair web page to decide, but my laptop just doesn't appear there (not R510JK, not X550JK, not X450LB).
I write to Asus. But they don't answer.
I open the memory panel in my laptop, but the soldered Memory is kind of hidden, and I can't see no sticker with the specs.
So..can anyone help me? here is where I found this laptop:

and so far, with everything I've done, I think I'm supposed to buy a single 4GB stick, DDR3 1600 Mhz SO-DIMM 204 pins PC3-12800 unbuffered non-ECC 1,35v (which would make it a DDR3L..? did I get it right?).
I've searched a little about all those things, and read about ECC, registered memory, DDR3L, what voltage would be better to buy (if you can) and some other stuff.
But I can't just go and buy a memory, even if I think that's the one I'm supposed to get, only to find out it doesn't work with my laptop, because I just can't go and buy another one then.
So before doing that, I thought I could ask here for help.
So thank you very much to anyone who can give me a hand with my problem.
