Hello, I have a CPU plug and play question
I have a HP P6724y and it comes with a Intel Pentium E5700 on a Foxconn H-I41-uATX (Eton/EtonL) motherboard, but if you go to the Foxconn website for the bios it is not listed and when you go the HP there is no information about the bios either
http://

a google search shows people talking about the same results I posted above
per the HP website they say that this Motherboard Foxconn H-I41-uATX (Eton/EtonL) supports the following processor upgrades:
I am going to upgrade my cpu to a Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 - 3.16 GHz Dual-Core SLB9K 6M / 1333 LGA775 Wolfdale 65w.

and want to know if this specific combination is Plug N Play or is there much more procedures that need to be done to ensure that the upgraded CPU will work and work properly.. Thanks, Tim

Hello,

Your system suppports all 45nm CPUs out-of-the-box, so it should be exactly how you said, plug-and-play. However, check if you motherboard have the latest BIOS version installed. Also, try to go for a quad-core from 9xxx series (or a LGA771 Xeon such E5450, they work in LGA775 boards with some modification), it will compensate the lower speed with two additional cores.
