Hi everyone!

Been trying to pick parts for my first build and after being set on AMD I have changed camp after finding a slight budget increase but I'm indecisive and need some clear feedback.

This is what I'm thinking so far:

i7 4790k CPU
Asus VII Hero Motherboard
256gb SSD (cheapest unless they're different?)
1TB HDD (Again looking at cheapest unless its going to make much diff?)
Corsair 300r windowed pc case
16GB ram (2x8gb) dont know if worth going for cl9 over cl10? Vs higher clock speeds..
GPU ?? (I can budget ~300-400 but want something which will be sufficient for high end games settings but I can SLI in a few months to push they system to very top end gaming).
PSU ?? Not a clue but i want to look at overclocking down the line without needing an upgrade
CPU cooling? Do i need this now or down the line? Would like to OC as far as reasonably possible..

Any other suggestions? Im planning to get a 144hz Asus 3D monitor in the next couple of months too but I dont recall the model number and would like to run as high frame rate as possible.

Overall budget is ~£900 mark but I can flex to more if its going to avoid bottlenecks down the line as I want a few years out of it really!

Mostly want to use pc for Gaming and uni work but I would like to play with video editing and all sorts so want a high end all rounder really!

Thanks for any help I have been trying to decide on these for 2/3 weeks and need to decide in the run up to xmas as some of the budgeting is as presents!
Thanks,

Dave

Solution
if your video editing then the 16GB will defiantly be helpful.

GPU, get the GTX 970. Great performance for the price.

PSU, I personally like the Corsair HX750W PSUs. Since your going to do sli soon, 750W is what you need.

CPU cooling, if you want to go liquid cooling go with a Corsair H100i or if you can't afford that get a H60.

Thanks for the fast response!

They seem like good suggestions after a quick look (cpu cooler & psu) but what brand of GTX 970 would you suggest as there seems to be a few?

Would like to mess with hash cracking/bitcoin mining too if that makes any difference although this is certainly not going to make much difference to my choice as its just something I would like to try..

Thanks again! Dave
