Newly assembled PC was working fine until I updated drivers? Help ASAP please

Hey guys,

Just finished assembling my pc with replacement parts that arrived and after downloading windows 8 and setting it up I decided to see if my graphics drivers needed any updating. In the process of the AMD Catalyst thing downloading whatever it needed to, my screen 'refreshed' to a different aspect ratio. I've been through a couple setting but i dont really know my way around just yet :(

NOTE: this isnt anything to do with my monitor, there are no options to change display sizing etc. please need help, one last thing before i can start gaming!

AMD R9 280 (non-x)

Did the installation process complete? It is normal for the screen to flash and go off a few times during the installation of graphics drivers.
If in doubt, go to the Control Panel and uninstall all Catalyst software, then try again.

Thankyou, I'll let you know- yes it did flash and it definitely finished. Basically when I uninstalled the drivers and rebooted the ratio was sorted- so I can tell it is a driver problem. On that note, is there any way to download older drivers?

Go through the usual steps on the AMD site to download the current drivers. Then, before you actually do the download, look on the left hand menu for an option (under helpful links) to download previous drivers and software.

You can also go to the Control Panel and then to your Device Manager. Find yor Video Card in the Hardware Tree under Display Adapters and Roll Back your Driver. If you cannot Roll Back to a previous Driver...Uninstall the Driver from the Menu and allow Windows to find the WHQL Catalyst Driver for your Video Card and do the Windows Update or the Driver may still located on your PC.
