Hey guys I just installed Windows 8, I came from Ubuntu. Well I now cannot access my Hard Drives, the only one I have access to is my SSD which is where the OS is installed. I have a 4TB Internal drive that when i go to My computer and click on it says "Location is not available" in the headline and the contents of the box say " N :\ is not accesible and the media is write protected" any ideas on how I can view the contents of the drive? Thanks!!

someone somewhere is correct . You are going to need to boot to linux .

The easiest way to do that is probably booting from a live DVD . Ubuntu can do this . The website will have instructions . It may ask to create a small hard drive partition . Tell it to do that on the data drive not the SSD . Then when you format it you can first partition it and get that space back .

Ok got you .
so whats probably happened is the hard drive is formatted in one of the formats Linux uses

Windows cant read those formats. MS are never helpful to people who want to use linux . The solution is to format it using disk management , but that will nuke all the files on it .

You could save files and folders to an external drive and transfer them back once the drive once its reformatted
