Hi, I'm building a new work station, I just recently built one about a year ago, but the ram is maxing out even though I have 64 gigs already of ecc, so upgrading it to 128 which will be expensive but it is what I need. The processor also has been a problem, was using a 4960 I think it was called. So I wanted to build one with all my needs met. I didn't really have a set budget, so I just increased the performance of each part that was lacking by a significant amount, almost 2x in some cases. I really hate the look of most server/workstation cases, so I went with one that I liked. The power supply had to be gold or better, also not willing to lower the wattage of the power supply. Most of these parts have been chosen for compatibility reasons with what I run. So I'm not willing to budge on most parts just want to make sure it all works.

Awesome! The e5-2630vs is an excellent value. The 2620v3 is too if you want to save around $450 for two 6 core cpus instead of two 8 core cpus. Just throwing that out there. I noticed that you could also save about $400 by buying 4 32GB Crucial sticks separately.

Anyway, those Xeons are only 85w. They're not going to get very hot even under 24/7 usage. Even two CM 212 Evos would be fine.

I don't know much about servers, to what you'll use it for, but I'm assuming the cpu get driven fairly hard all day.
You definitely want a better cpu cooler. Even the H100 with a 240mm rad. They are ok coolers, but definitely built to a price. An entire H100 system is lighter than my previous 120mm rad. Empty.

I was thinking about getting two of the new swiftech 240mm coolers, but the two h80i's are more meant just to be a temp thing until I can get my hands on the case and do some measuring and looking around the case for the two 240mm rad mounting options.

I really am not interested in workstations that come pre-built. As far as the processors go I really need the 8 cores on each processor, I really don't want to go with less. As far as the ram goes, I really only want to buy the ecc ram as a kit. Finding 4 sticks of ram that haven't been proven to play nice with eachother will become a problem if they dont. I'd rather spend the extra money for the ram just so I can know that they have been tested together.
