Case Fan Noisy for First 30 Seconds...

Recently one of my case fans has become noisy for the first 20-30 seconds after turning on the PC. The noise then disappears.

I just replaced the fan, but the noise is still there.

When I unplug that fan (while it's noisy) the noise stops immediately.

Anyone have any advice? Thanks much!

Alan

The motherboard probably spins the fan to full RPM when it first turns on, then down to whatever speed you selected. You could get low noise adapters (like the ones that come with Noctua fans) to limit the power to the fan, for quieter, slower operation.

Thanks, Jacob. Makes sense (though I do wonder why this began after 6 years with the old fan, and continued immediately with the new fan... ).

Thanks again,

Alan

That's weird that the noise issue all began now. I wonder if something in the BIOS messed up, and changed your fan settings? Seems weird if it's on a 6 year old motherboard. Just to check, the fans are plugged into the motherboard, not the power supply, correct?
