Hi All,

I have not cleaned my system before and I am looking to start to maintain it better. If dust has settled on motherboard and graphic cards, whats the best way to clean them?
Some people say using compressed air and a hoover, but some people are telling me not to do this.
So what is the best way to clean the guts of my computer without damaging any of the components.

Thanks for all the help. This site has been very helpful to a noob like me.

Solution
dust will go everywhere so that is a good idea. just make sure you are unplugged while doing this and also don't touch the vacuum to the computer, there can be a build up of static from vacuums

compressed air is the best.

you could ruin a fan by spinning it with compressed air so you can just hold fan blades while using the compressed air.

if you really want to clean something you can always use some pure isopropyl alcohol, or as pure as you can find. use it like water i just evaporates really quickly and does not leave residue. i have used a toothbrush and alcohol many times.

make sure the computer is not plugged into the wall before doing these things.

Ok i think i get what you mean, so using compressed air would get rid of all the dust. Should i position a hover above the case to suck up all the dust?
