In the past, almost all of my gaming has been done on the Playstation consoles and I have bought all of them. Recently however, I've started to shift my gaming more and more to PC, finding that I'm getting more games for less money.
When I bought my PS4, I believed that it would preform better for dedicated gaming than my PC. Now though, I'm not so sure. After playing a couple older titles such as Tomb Raider and Farcry 3 for PC, I've found that my PC versions have not only saved me money but are giving me higher resolutions and faster frame rates than graphically similar PS4 titles. I haven't had the money to buy the same game for both platforms and do a comparison yet.
So the question I'm faced with now is, should I sell my PS4 expecting that my PC will be able to do everything just as well or better for the next 5 years?
The main issue that I see with this decision is optimization, which is the real meat of my question.
1. Will some developers optimize their games more poorly for PC, allowing the PS4 to out-preform my PC?
2. Will smart optimization of games allow the PS4 to out-preform my PC in the future with all games?
Of course this question can't be answered without my specs, so here they are...
CPU: I5-3450 3.1 GHz (4 core, 4 threads, boost to 3.5 GHz, overclock locked)
GPU: GTX 650 Ti 2 GB (base model)
Memory: 8 GB DDR3
HDD: 1 TB
Display: 1080p, 60 Hz
Disk Drive: LG Bluray/DVD Combo
OS: Windows 8
