Good CPU Cooler Under $100?

Solution

I very much doubt that you would have to do anything other than remove the rear 120mm fan in order to install the H80i. It is...

are you sure? I also have two fans on the side panel of my case, would i have to remove them in order to install the h80i?

Oh did not know you had fans on the side. And by the way, it is worth more to have a good CPU cooler than to have another side fan. Personally I do not believe in side fans. They are annoying and do odd things to airflow.

If you are to get an AIO cooler, try going $10 over your budget for the Kraken x41. It is better than the H80i (it is equal/slightly better than the H100i).

However, if you are looking at an H80i, considet the Noctua NH-C14 and Phanteks PH-TC14CS as they are quieter, cheaper, and perform the same. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=Phanteks+PH-TC14CS&N=-1&isNodeId=1

I very much doubt that you would have to do anything other than remove the rear 120mm fan in order to install the H80i. It is almost the same as mounting a fan except it is a little under an inch wider on one side where the hoses come out. Since the H80i comes with two fans, it will be much thicker than a typical 120mm fan (about 3 or 4 times thicker) but unless you have some really tall heat sinks on your VRM near the rear fan mount then it should not be obstructed by anything. The H90 is slightly thinner and according to many reviews on it gives you about the same performance as an H100 when using two fans in push-pull and a high RPM and about the same performance as the H80i when only using one fan in pull at a quiet RPM. If you are going with liquid cooling, either option is a good choice but since your rear fan mount is only 120mm, I'd go with the H80i or something in 120mm. If you are also considering air cooling and the NH-D14 or D15 doesn't fit, you could look at something low profile from Noctua like the NH-L12 (62mm) or NH-L9I (32mm tall). Although you won't be able to get the same overclocks as the D14, you will still get excellent cooling compared to the stock Intel cooler and much quieter operation. Another Noctua option is the NH-C14 which is still pretty tall at 152mm but shorter than the D14 (160mm) and D15 (165mm).
