Hi all,

I am currently running the stock fan and heatsink that came with my fx8350. The dang this is super loud under load so I want to replace it. Based on the reviews I have read I'm trying to decide between the two options listed in the name of this thread.

I'm not going to overclock and cooling for the CPU is not even and issue with the stock fan. However, I have an r9 280x in a rosewill challenger case meaning there is very little air flow getting past the GPU. This is resulting in pretty high GPU temperatures sometime up to 78 degrees C.

This leaves me with another problem. All of the well reviewed CPU coolers are too big for me to keep my upper side fan and the lower side fan slot is already blocked by GPU. So by upgrading my CPU cooler I'm afraid I will leave the graphics card to roast.

So I am wondering. Will the 212 evo or the hydro 80i pull enough air to keep the GPU temp the same or possibly even lower it? Which one would be better? Does anyone else have any other suggestions? Is it possible to just replace the fan on the stock CPU heatsink?

Thanks,
Imrik

I have used both the 212 EVO and a Corsair 120mm AIO cooler. The C60 not the 80i. But from my experience, they are about equal. The AIO takes up less room if that is an issue. But it's a bit louder at higher fan RPM than the air cooler.
