Basicly i have a gtx 6600 2GB superclocked, duo core e6600.. EVGA nForce 680i SLI 775 A1 Version motherboard.. 4gig of 800mhz RAM...a 700 watts powersupply... raptor 70gb HD... I want to invest about 500$ for gaming purpose.

Essentially, you need to replace your CPU,motherboard,RAM,GPU and keep the rest to rebuild. Below would be what I'd dive into for $500.

Motherboard: This is $70 and a $20MIR so it's a NUTS deal. It's a Z97 so it's the latest chipset and you can always upgrade to an unlocked CPU later if you want to get more CPU performance. It has decent onboard sound and other good features in a higher end mobo.

CPU: $20 off and at $100 you will get solid gaming performance out of this dual core (with HT). You can always pop in an i5 or i7 later if you want.

RAM: DDR3 1866 with decent timing. $10 off and $10 code until tomorrow.

GPU: GTX760 from MSI that you can OC the socks off. $25 off and $20MIR

TOTAL: $479.96
Plus $40 in MIRs

If you can throw in an SSD while you are at it and this think will blow the doors off your current system.

Thanks for your help. I purchased my parts. Ive got everything... All im waiting for is my case from ncix.com
This is the parts ive got:

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($244.48 @ Amazon Canada)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($30.89 @ DirectCanada)
Motherboard: Asus Z97-A ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($159.95 @ Vuugo)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory ($94.98 @ Newegg Canada)
Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($82.98 @ DirectCanada)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 660 2GB Video Card ($216.00 @ Vuugo)
Case: NZXT Phantom 410 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case ($109.99 @ Amazon Canada)
Total: $939.27

The video card is still the same. its like 1 month old.. ive got it from a RMA from EVGA. I was wondering how big is the upgrade to a gtx 760 since both card are 1ghz with 2 gb DDR5..

if i would have an extra 200$ to put in my system what would u suggest me. thanks again
my psu is 7 years old.. is it risky to keep it in the new system ?

What's with this..."I want to spend $500" then I suggest, then you spend close to a grand? Either case, that build is great. If you already have a EVGA GeForce GTX 660 2GB an upgrade to a 760 wouldn't be huge. Your original post said gtx 6600 so I was thinking OLD SCHOOL 6600 GT cards. Since you have a 700W PSU and a motherboard that supports SLI, just get another EVGA GeForce GTX 660 card and SLI the pair. It would blow the doors off a single 760. It will run you like $200 for the extra card and they still sell them since there really is not Nvidia card that fills the performance gap for this card. The 660 falls between the 750Ti and the GTX760. I can't find any good comparison performance charts, but (2) GTX660's in SLI exceed a GTX680 by quite a bit and hover around (2) GTX 580's in SLI. I can't find anything that compared GTX580SLI to anything modern but the GTX590 shows up. A GTX590 performs a little less than GTX580SLI and sits anywhere from 10-30% over a GTX680. The difference between a GTX680 and GTX780 is about 20-30% depending on game. So if I estimate correctly (2) GTX660's in SLI "should" give you similar performance to a GTX780. Granted the memory bus is different and the 780s have 3GB vRAM over the 660's 2GB. But for all intents and purposes. That is where you would be sitting.

What exactly is your 700W PSU make and model?

Also, I run a 750W PC Power and Cooling PSU that is around 7 years old as well and it's running the system in my signature. Just saying. PSU's don't usually go bad, though components will degrade a little bit. Maybe 10-20% over a long time. So if you are on the fringe it might be prudent to upgrade. But really you just keep a PSU until it no longer fits your needs.

I had an 7 years old thermaltake thoughpower 700watts but by the time you replied this post i bough a EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply. ;) we're far from our 500$ from the start but i'm pretty happy :) getting another gtx 660 would be a great idea. btw i said e6600 = core duo 2
