i currently have a 1tb western digital blue hdd. i am planning to upgrade it to a 120gb ssd with a 1-2 tb green storage. my friend told me that saving up for a 1tb or 500gb ssd is better. i am a casual gamer and i dont do video editing. i also surf the web a lot. with 7-15 tabs open at once. which is a better choice for me? price is also an issue although i will buy the big ssd if it is worth it. and are those programs used to migrate the operating system from an old hdd to a new ssd good? like will it screw with my ssd? please help thanks :D

yes you most definitely can. If you do not install anything but the OS to the ssd you should be okay. when i ran into problems is when i beta tested a game and it did not give a choice to installation drive then all of a sudden I had archeage taking up 30 gigs on my OS drive and that is allot when you only have 120gb and you want to keep %20 free just for performance and stability.

in the end I found it a pain in the ass to have to worry about a drive and after a 18 months things just seem to creep onto the drive.

at 240gb or 500gb you have nothing to worry about and you can install anything you want onto the drove. I put some of my favorite games on there, all of my office products on there.

It is just a matter of convenience...

240gb minimum and 500 if you want to install a select amount of programs.

the only reason i say this is that if you get a 120 gb then you will eventually need to maintenance on the drive as it will fill up with random stuff. windows updates, document, downloads and such. of course you can move these files to other placs but in the end it still requires an amount of work.

get at least a 240gb ssd

Yes, you can keep all your games and media on your hard drive, but your most used apps will run better off the SSD. Green hard drives are a bit slow so they pair better with SSDs that are at least 256GB.

Right now 256GB is the SSD sweet spot, this is where you get the most storage space for the price.
