I was wondering what I should do with my laptop to speed it up for gaming. Should I upgrade to an i5/i7 processor? Or would more RAM space do the trick? I'm currently running 6GB of RAM.. But its still not fast enough for me. I first need to know if the D550CA-RS31 ASUS Laptop can be upgraded and if it can, what's the best option?

CPU is almost irrelevant - CPUs are pretty maxed out.. (although, with your laptop specifically the Intel 4000 gfx relies heavily on the CPU so there would be a benefit to your lappie having at least an i5, but;

your focus in my opinion should be on getting a laptop with the best damn video card you can get.. and definitely ensure it has SSD.. RAM you definitely want 8GB(6GB is good enough I guess but 4GB is definitely showing it's age..

I guess you could do what almost no one ever does and get a better CPU for that laptop and also look at SSD

because you have an ASUS laptop at the moment I've gone to ASUS.com and ticked "Gaming" in the laptop category, check out the specs on these actual gaming laptops...

That laptop is a crab in a bucket. It's not designed for gaming. Do not invest/spend any money on it. Save towards purchasing your next laptop and keep the gaming in mind.

Your next laptop needs a dedicated graphics card/controller and also SSD

Oh man, thanks for the words! I think I have a better idea on what to do now. But just in case I decided to upgrade to an i5 or i7, could I? Because I thought some computers couldn't be upgraded to higher than the factory issue... or did someone lie to me at Geek Squad?
