Hi,

I installed Win 7 32 bit on my Lenovo G519 laptop and then installed all the drivers. Now I want to use my wireless Internet but can't find the way I can turn on the wireless on that laptop!!
I tried Fn+F5 and also F5 but it's still turned off. It says, "Wireless capability is turned off".

"Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" in Power Management is unchecked.

How to turn on wireless in that laptop please?

Have you tried going into Control Panel > Network and Sharing Centre > Manage Network Adapters and making sure that the wireless device is listed and enabled? Go into Device manager and make sure that the device is also detected in the system as well? Also is Windows 7 the default OS for this computer?

It's enabled in device manager. About the switch I don't know what combinatorial keys are for turning the wifi on or off.

It's listed there and enabled as well. And in the previous similar link that I did read, there isn't any "wireless mode" in left box of advanced tab of Networking -> configure.
My Wireless network adapter (in device manager) is: "Qualcomm Atheros AR956x Wireless Network adapter" which is enabled.

I downloaded and installed just the drivers that were needed for win 7 32 bit.
And on those drivers, I installed all of them.
I guess, wifi can not be turned on on win 7 apparently!
Thanks my friend.

Just check to see if there's any shortcut/command drivers you need to download. I know especially with Toshiba Laptops, the FN+Whatever key to enable WiFi and other things don't work unless I download that. (Though WIFI does normally work regardless of me doing that or not, it just allows the shortcuts with the key combinations)

There was some app about wifi which I downloaded it and installed. Whatever I did on it I couldn't turn the wifi on. And the wifi does not work unless it is turned on, on this laptop unlike the Toshiba ones.
And I aid apparently it will not be turned on (apparently), please read this: http://

Just one last remark, have you thought about using a USB Wireless adapter dongle? and will you get internet on this laptop when you plug it in with an ethernet cable? If you haven't already have you check windows update, then optional installs and checked to see if there was any updates to the wireless driver or any additional drivers to get for your computer?

Thank you for all of your remarks (previous and next ones)!
No I haven't thought about that. To be honest I haven't hear of such thing!
Yes, I can access Internet using Ethernet cable.
The OS is up-to-date.

Its like $15 for a thing that looks like a USB stick (or even one of those new wireless mouse/keyboard dongles that are super small) but instead of allowing you to store things, it gives something that doesn't have WIFI or if WIFI is broken (gotta have it plugged in all the time, but at least the laptop won't be a boat anchor.

Something like this, SHAZZAM
