I recently decided to buy not build a PC from Cyberpower. I am fully aware I could have built it myself, and not had to worry about the quality, but anywho, I don't know much about home theater setups. I was wondering what would be the best solution to get 5.1 true surround sound out of my pc, I did not order a sound card in my build as the Home Theater treatment of the PC was an after thought. So, while I'm waiting on my PC to arrive, I was curious as to the best way to get a Surround Sound system setup. (On somewhat of a budget of course) preferably under 400$ and trying to avoid buying a sound card.

Almost all motherboards can support 5.1 sound but if you're a true audiophile you'll want a sound card as they are much better. You don't need to spend a fortune on a soundcard either. Asus ones are pretty good (though a lot of people have issues with the software) and Creative Soundblaster Audigy, Z and X-fi are generally good. Just avoid the Soundblaster Recon (has a blue audio processor on the card) as it has dreadful reviews!
