How does Mail-in-rebate and Promo discounts work for Newegg, OutletPc, Amazon, and Superbiiz?(step by step please)

Solution

Yes.
Find a box of something you've bought. Does it look like that? Yes it does. Cut that out and send it to them, with whatever else they require.

Yes, you will still need to pay the total price. The Mail-In-Rebate (MIR) offers are through the manufacturers of each component. As an example, the power supply you are looking at is $61.99 with a $20 rebate. You would purchase the power supply from Newegg for $61.99. If you wanted to get your rebate, you would have to follow Corsair's (the power supply manufacturer) rules concerning Mail-In-Rebates, which normally include sending the a copy of your receipt as well as the bar code from the box of the power supply (see and abide *EXACTLY* by Corsairs MIR rules).

Provided you meet all of their rules, you would likely get a $20 check in the mail in 8-14 weeks.

OK, that's a whole different question (and a different parts list)
Promo codes are generally taken off right at checkout. No mail in foolish needed.

$30 part + $5 Promo code = You pay $25 (if you enter the promo code in the right box)
$30 part + $5 mail in rebate = You pay $30, and they probably send you the $5 back.

So if I had a 60$ power supply with a 20$ mail in rebate = I pay 60$ and they will send me the 20$ back?

Yes. Edit that to "they will probably send me the 20$ back"

But see my suggestion above. Better PSU, for less $$.

For each MIR, there will be a specific set of instructions on exactly what to send, to where, and by when.
Do that. No deviations. If they say 'original barcode', you take a knife and cut it off the box.

If you get from Amazon or Newegg, generally there is a link at the item listing.

This from the Checkout for your selected PSU:

See that green link that says "$20.00 Mail-in Rebate Card"
Click that. Print it out. Do what it says.
If you have done everything perfectly, they will send you a debit card with $20 applied.

Okay on a gigabyte instruction on their rebate card it tells me to have a copy of a original model name and serial number and label cut from retail box, where do i find these three things? Oh and it tells me to keep another copy of all the stuff that I am sending to the company for a mail in rebate, how do i do that with a receipt, label cut from retail box, and the serial number?

All except the "label cut from retail box,", simply print 2 copies. 1 for you, 1 for them.
The label, you could scan it, just for future reference. But you can't use that.

So would i put all the stuff in an envelope correct?

And other questions since I am not that experienced when it comes to online shopping *btw I usually do all of my shopping offline*

Is this what a retail box label that can be cut? http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NjMwWDg0MA==/z/FyEAAOxypNtSmLCk/$_1.JPG?set_id=2

So the original model name, i would just cut that out of the package?

So how can you print another receipt of yours, original model name, and serial number, do you just write it on a document and then print it later on?

(your ebay picture link did not work)

After you buy it, there will appear an invoice. Print this (2 copies). 1 for you, 1 for them.
You will also get an email. Print optional.

Whatever they say send...put all that in an envelope. Address it to wherever they say.
Do not forget your return address.
Do not forget a stamp.
Do not forget to put it in the mailbox before whatever end date they say.

So the original model name, i would just cut that out of the package?
No, they want the barcode, and whatever little bit of text is right around that.

oh okay thanks man Here is another link that SHOULD work https://www.google.com/search?q=invoice+mail+in+rebate&biw=1366&bih=667&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=d113VPK2GbT8sAT8tYKwAQ&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAQ#tbm=isch&q=retail+box+label&imgdii=_

Would those top 6 pictures be a good example of retail box label (I think the retail box label is pretty much the serial number?)

If you wish to print a hard copy, yes, you need a printer. If they require that order printout or invoice to be included in the envelope...you need a printer.

You can save any email invoices to {wherever}.
