Hey everyone,

I'm currently in the process of getting some prices together and building a HTPC for the living room.

Parts I already have and plan to use:
- 64GB OCZ Vertex 4 SSD or 256GB mSATA SSD pulled from old Dell
- Have a mSATA to 2.5-inch form factor adapter for the 256GB SSD

- Corsair Vengeance 8GB RAM 1600MHz 9-9-9-24 (2x4GB)

- Sapphire HD 7790 1GB GDDR5 GPU
- http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7867677

Parts I plan to buy:
- EVGA 430w PSU (50$, 40$ after rebate)
- CPU
- MOBO
- CASE

So as you can see, I need a few parts, but don't know what would be appropriate.

I don't need anything crazy for a CPU, i don't even think Ill need an i3? Suggestions?

As for the MOBO, that will be dictated by the CPU and don't need one that is too powerful, just needs to have a slot for the graphics card and can take the RAM.

And the case needs to be accommodating for the GPU and is small in size/nice enough for the living room.

This HTPC will be used to watch Netflix and NHL games from the internet, and streaming very large media files over ethernet from my NAS. Some movies, for example, hit about 50GB in size. Let me know what you think!

Thanks!

You're right, you dont need a powerful CPU for what you want to do. I have a couple HTPCs include one with a Pentium and it works fine. Also, I'd get a mobo with an msata slot on it to use your existing SSD.

For the case, you want to make sure it's tall enough to fit an ATX power supply and a full height GPU. I have an nMediaPC 5000B that does this but I'm sure there are others.
