Good afternoon all,
Here's my situation:
I built a computer several years ago with a standard HDD and Windows 7. About two years ago, I added a new SSD with Windows 8. The SSD is small, and have decided to abandon the HDD by getting a second SSD (250gb Samsung EVO 840).
The SSD is the C drive, and the HDD is the D drive.
I thought this would be cake to do, but I am struggling big time.
I cloned the C drive to the new SSD, with the intention of just switching out the old 64gb SSD with the new Samsung, using the Samsung cloning software. When I try to boot from the new SSD, it doesn't work.
After doing a little digging, it appears the the D drive is the system partition (the HDD), while the C drive (old SSD) is the boot partition.
I have no idea how to go about getting all of the information I need onto the new SSD so I can replace both old harddrives. Is the D drive causing my issues? By cloning the old SSD to the new, shouldn't that still let me boot up Windows 8 using the new SSD just like switching out any accessory?
Please help me out! If i need to provide more information I would be happy to. I tried looking up guides and old posts, but nothing seems to answer specific to my situation.
Thanks in advance,
Tony
