I have gotten Windows 8.1 to work fine in UEFI AHCI mode. In fact, if I switch it back to AHCI mode, Windows boots right up so I know the SSD installed on port 1 is connected correctly. CSM is disabled.

Ports 3 and 4 have 1TB drives configured as a mirrored array, through Windows, from a previous computer. I’m prepared to reinstall Windows, but the SSD Drive will not show up in Windows setup when RAID is enabled.

RAID has two modes on this board. Legacy mode gives me a RAID BIOS which I’m familiar with where you press CTRL-F to enter it and configure your arrays. This drivers were mirrored in Windows which is why the RAID BIOS doesn't detect them as a mirror array. It does list the SSD drive as a single disk which is fine. When I boot a Windows 8.1 DVD in UEFI mode, the two 1TB drives show up as single disks but the SSD does not show up at all. I know it is not a driver problem or the two 1TB drives wouldn’t show up either. Still, loading the driver from the MB DVD doesn’t change this. Why is my SSD Drive not showing up? I can only assume Windows is hiding it because it has a previous install of Windows 8 with secure boot turned on?

If I turn on RAID -> UEFI Driver rather than legacy, the same thing as above occurs. The difference is there is no RAID BIOS so I can’t configure any arrays. Supposedly you can press F11 or F8 and boot to a EFI configuration utility, but option doesn’t exist in the boot menu as I assume an efi file would need to be copied to a hard drive somewhere.

I'm still interested to know why my SSD won't show up in Windows 8.1 setup when MB RAID is enabled. I ended up leaving it in AHCI mode as Windows RAID still works fine, accomplishing my original goal.
