Well there really isn't a reason to upgrade from 7 to 8... Windows 10 is what Windows 8 should have been. If you really want to upgrade I would wait for 10. Windows 8.1 is rumored to have a free upgrade to 10, but it's just speculation as of now, not fact.

I've tried windows 8 and the only good thing I found is fast start up which is around 10-15 seconds.
Just stick with windows 7 until windows 10 comes out.

I think upgrading to Windows 10 should be fine. Honestly, I haven't seen any major issues, and its way better than 8 or 8.1. You should be able to download the Technical Preview from Microsoft's website.
