BF4 FPS Drops to 5 fps suddenly on lowest settings

Hi,

I have been recently having BF4 FPS Drops to as low as 5 fps, I usually get 30-40 FPS while playing, then suddenly, out of nowhere I drop to 5 fps. It can happen during battles, walking in general, and doing nothing.

I run BF3 smoothly on lowest settings, but the resolution is not the lowest it can go. I get no FPS drops in BF3, unless its chaos, with a billion explosions. I've played BF4 on Game time this summer between July-August, and I was playing smoothly with no FPS drops in BF4. I'm guessing that, maybe an update occurred that decreased FPS.

I play BF4 on the lowest settings and the lowest resolution.

My specs on my laptop:

Processor- Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU Q 720 @ 1.60GHz (4 cores)

Video Card- NVIDIA Quadro FX 880M

Memory- 4.0 GB

Operating System- Microsoft Windows 8 Professional Edition (build 9200), 64-bit

Even if my video card or any other specs I have, isn't that good, is there any solution to this FPS problem without buying anything new for my laptop?

It says on minimum system requirements:

CPU - 180% Performance
GPU - 46% Performance
RAM - 100% Performance

On Recommended system requirements:

CPU - 91% Performance
GPU - 13% Performance
RAM - 50% Performance

Since I have everything on low and I have good minimum requirements, doesn't that mean I should run BF4 without sudden lag spikes? I think this is not a hardware problem... But I'm not sure at the same time

What about the CPU and the RAM? The CPU is 180% and the RAM is 100%, this MUST make a difference...

If there is no difference, is there ANYTHING I can do to improve my GPU performance, or just make BF4 run on my CPU and RAM, and a bit of my GPU.

IF, if there is no chance of me improving the FPS drops, which graphics card should I buy for a laptop, and good for BF4.
Im saying IF because I really want to see if there is anything I can do without buying an new graphics card, I really want to get rid of these FPS drops...

Like I said before, On this summer (July-August), I had BF4 Game Time, on Origin, and I had no FPS drops at all, I didn't change any files of BF4, only change the settings to low and change the resolution. Maybe its an update that caused all this FPS drops to happen? Is it the CTE update? Or another?

Is there any way I can make my CPU and RAM not be held back by my GPU?
If not, is there any way I can stop the FPS drop?
If not, again, what GPU should I buy for a laptop and is good for BF4?

Also, sorry for the bump

If this is true, then you can ignore i7baby. Sure, a better GPU would be nice, but it's not going to solve what you have described here, an obviously performance GLITCH that is unrelated to the raw performance of the CPU or GPU.

My advise, carefully open up the laptop and get in there with a can of air and blast all of the dust bunnies out of it. Sudden dips to low FPS can be caused by high-temp conditions that trigger self-preservation modes (low power states).

If that does not help, then you probably have a background task randomly demanding compute resources. Make sure you don't have ANY active anti-virus/malware software running continuous checks. Manually run that sort of software to make sure you don't have any virus's or malware, which also cause these sorts of performance problems. Check for other forms of automation. Is your machine checking for updates every few minutes? or backing up your home folder? Or creating restore points? Doing your laundry? Turn off as many unnecessary automation's as possible. Automation leading to sudden and intense disk I/O operations are known for causing these sorts of sudden performance dips as well.

Best of luck!

I found the problem, but found another one as well.

Well, I was playing BF4 on like 64 player server on Conquest Large maps, when I posted this thread. I started to play Team Deathmatch, which is a smaller map, with 16 players. I had no FPS lag, just like in July-August.

My next problem is that, how do I fix this FPS issue on 64 player servers on Conquest Large maps?
